Mary Seymour was born to the late Wesley Beverly Seymour and the late Arabella Pickett Seymour in Algier, LA. She also had a late aunt, Mrs. Ellen Pickett Foster, who helped to raise her, and one godson, Eric St. John Barbain.
Ms. Seymour attended St. Mary Parish Training Schol and graduated from there in 1932. This school still survives in Franklin but is now named the J.A. Hernandez Elementary School.
Ms. Seymour has been employed in a number of position during her life, mainly working in a domestic capacity. Some of the families that Ms. Seymour has been employed by include the Peterman's, the Hanagriff's, Fielding Lewis, Billie Standley and Dr. Tom Kramer and family.
Ms. Seymour became a member of Asbury at an early age. She has held a number of different offices in the church, including serving as a district steward, church secretary and church treasurer. Ms.Seymour has also served as Sunday School superintendent and as a member of the church choir. She currently holds a membership in the United Methodist Women.
Ms. Seymour was recently honored at Asbury for her long years of service in the church. Certainly, all of Asbury thanks Ms. Seymour for "a job well done" and we pray that God continues to bless her with wellness and longevity.
